Permalink Optimisation

You can aim to fit as many of your keywords into the URL as possible, this will then mean that it gets rid of words people don't actually use, making your URL stronger and more attractive in search engines.

By using 'postname' in your URL, WordPress makes using keywords in you URL so easy, don't use useless tags within your URL it makes it harder to see your keywords, this therefore means their result in search engines aren't as strong. Always stick to the structure that you have chosen originally instead of changing it about as it can sometimes invalidate the links that you get.

When it comes to page titles, get the keywords for the page in there, this will mean when those words are searched they will show up in bold and stand out. It is important to put them at the front because Google cuts titles off after they get past a certain length, they may also naturally count the words that are early on in the title as more important.

One way of tackling this problem is by saying what is in the post/page, then the category it come under, then your company backwards to how you normally would head a page probably.

What about post titles? Keep them short and sweet, if they are straight to the point and straight forward with your keywords. Make sure you link to the post, this is where users click and so it is a natural inward link to your site.

You can also add a few HTML links in with pages were a lot of posts appear i.e. the front page. You can add HTML in by putting h2, h3 or h4 tags around the text, this makes the links much stronger, if you are doing this trick on the front page then its advised to use h1 tagging as it's the best and most secure, plus you will really see the benefit from it. If you find it all easy then you can get WordPress to link to your newest post using h1 tags onto your front page this is a great trick for SEO.

A few more last minute tricks, make sure your categories have really good URLs and title tags, get your keywords in there as much as you can as it will mean they will register higher in the search engines. You can also look at using the related posts plug-in, this will allow you to look some of the most relevant posts to yours which can help you add some extra information into yours making it as strong as possible!
