The iMac takes a break from the Internet…

…and you soon see why the Internet is everything in modern computing.

In some kind of ironic twist, while trying to upgrade my connection, gratis, from 2 Mbps to 8 Mbps (or one freaking megabyte per second!), the Mac has decided to reject the already patchy BT modem for a while.

Never fear, though. It works rather nicely on the crummy old IBM thinkpad. At least, I can get the meat and potatoes of my daily dealings done.

I’ve ordered a Ethernet router from a dodgy online retailer (fingers crossed it will actually arrive), and (although I’m out of my depth when it comes to networking things) I do hope my life will improve because of it.

Excelsior!

I know how you feel! I’ve lost internet connections for a few days in the past. There were only a few things I could actually do on my computer!

Anyway, I think you’ll be fine setting up the router. There’s basically just a few numbers you have to enter that you can find on your ISPs website.

In the meantime, have fun on your thinkpad!
