Gaymers

Will someone please tell me if the Gaymers advert which is appearing on telly here and there is a joke or not?

Shot by shot, it features two men playing snooker (and celebrating together), to women at a fancy bar together and then back to the usual man and woman combo watching fireworks.

Gaymers is, apparently, cider.

I don’t know what to think. The clues are just too strong. I thought Gaymers was the plural noun for homosexual video game players.
