Kevin sent me a link to a funny Reebok ad which uses some probably well-known athlete. It’s actually quite good, but seeing it on Google Video reminded me about something which I was thinking of a while ago when the video iPods came out.
When/if I get a video iPod, I’m going to want to watch some video on it. Right? But I don’t really want to pay £3 or whatever for an episode which was on the telly the other night for free, and I don’t want to watch some rubbish vidcasts. (I’m generalising here, work with me!)
So I can see a massive opportunity for advertising agencies here to start producing and distributing funny/cool adverts to people who actually want to watch them.
Think about it - some of the adverts the UK’s creative force along comes up with are pretty exceptional, and it seems a waste when they go off air, because they’re either very funny or very impressive in the CGI department. And then there’s viral adverts.
Recycling these ads gives the consumers something to look at on their swanky new iPod, and it gives the advertisers even more reach.
Why someone hasn’t done this yet is beyond me, the whole thing should have been done by now by some advertising agencies. (Yet more businessmen being rubbish, I think!)
That ad is hilarious!
