Going Green
Green is my favourite colour, so I was delighted to find a nice set of greens over on colourlovers. For the record, I think that green is probably the hardest colour to work with, especially when it’s on it’s own.
Keeping it simple
When considering what goes where, I’m constantly thinking of what’s going to be simplest and easiest to use. I really want this site to be easy on the eyes and brain. You’ll notice I haven’t done the menu yet… well, that’s next.
Designing with CSS and XHTML in mind
One all-important thing that web designers must bear in mind when they’re doing their stuff is how the page is actually going to be coded. I’ve been on the receiving end of a few bad designs in my (short) time, and it’s not nice to have to code around one at all. That’s a great reason why designers should learn to code.
Onwards!
It’s my goal to have the menu done by tonight. This design itself is the third try, so I don’t expect doing the menu will be too quick. I tend to design by iteration, chucking something out there and improving it bit by bit. If I reach a point where the design goes bad or isn’t going anywhere good, I start again. Simple and easy, especially for someone who isn’t exactly an artist.

The green is ok. Some colours can be too bright to be useful.
