Last time on The Apprentice: Martha Stewart… Leslie got fired. Well, they didn’t fire her, but they didn’t ‘need her’ either.
One thing I noticed that lead to her downfall was misuse of a very good team idea-generating approach. That is, you ask people to give you all of their ideas, not just good ones.
Leslie didn’t quite do it right, though. By placing a really great idea into the same hat as the rest of the ideas, and wanting more immediately, she prevented that great idea from being appreciated and developed. Bless her, she was trying quite hard, but the ‘idea’ behind the method is to drain out all ideas with the hope that one is a killer top-notch one.
So in a situation like that, where time is certainly of the essence, identify the good from the bad, and move on!
