I think WordPress is just about the best blogging software out there, but it does have a significant downside.
In WordPress, comments are often far from easy to manage. This is, primarily, because of the email you receive informing you of the new comment.
The image above (large) is a screenshot of a comment email I’ve received in Gmail. Messy, isn’t it? It’s so messy that it’s very hard to isolate what exactly the comment is. There’s too much data.

Why put the IP in this message? I have absolutely no use for it, and I’m better the vast majority of WordPress users do either. It’s unnecessary visual clutter and extraneous data.

Great, a functional link. It’s unfortunate that its function is to look up the IP of the user, and provide me with very insignificant information. Using this, you’ll find that I use AOL, but that’s it.
After the unnecessary parts of the message comes that way the information is organised. There’s a new line for everything, and the good information (name, email, address) is smack bang in the middle of the useless stuff. The comment comes after all of this, so it’s not the easiest thing to find.
So, what might be a better solution?
Well, to take a quick stab at it, I’d prefer something like:

Looking back at the title, which I’m reluctant to change, it should really be ‘Email bombing legal in UK’.

I’ve abridged the URLs to make them fit in with the blockquote. The email isn’t required here, because WordPress already builds it into the ‘from’ part of the email (a good thing, it makes it very quick to reply). I’ve left in the name and URL because the URL can’t be built into the email, and you want to associate the name with the URL.
This is the kind of case were leaving out data and ‘information’ will make something better, much in the same way as the iPod doesn’t show things like file format or data rate.
There’s still the small issue of the rubbish admin panel for comments (large), which is in dire need of some iconage and general re-thinking, but I think I’ll leave it at that.
Hopefully you’re a bit better at subjective usability criticism now.
