Play.com in my humble, considered opinion, is by far the easiest site to buy things from on the Internet.
Everything works great.
- The navigation is dead-simple.
- The search works very well.
- The offers are shows down the side.
- When you add something to your cart, you don’t need to log in and it’s shown very neatly on the side of the page.
- Delivery is free and they make sure you know that.
- There prices are so low, and the fact that there is no hidden postage cost is fantastic.
- They accept debit cards, such as Solo.
- They’ve even been doing books for a while now, and can totally whip Amazon on some of their prices.
- Actually entering your details is easy to do.
- Delivery is always swift, without fail.
They’ve got it all.
Yes, Play.com is a favourite of mine, and while I always search for stuff on Froogle, if Play.com comes up I know they’ll be the cheapest, most reliable, no questions (although because I’m tight I will actually give it a check!).
So if you’re ever planning on selling things online, perhaps you might like to consider some of the above.
And yet… their layout is a dead ripoff of Amazon.com.
You know, while they did probably take the whole tabbed thing off of Amazon, they’ve had this look for years now, and it’s always been a bit graphical.
I think they do it even better than Amazon.com, and especially better than Amazon.co.uk, when you take a look at how well the subsections look.
Much prefer them over Amazon. I think Amazon sells far too much stuff for its own good, and it all gets so fiddly.
