Redesigning Market West

The time has come to move my ‘portfolio’-type site onwards and upwards.

I’m going to be redesigning it to meet a new purpose which it’ll have to serve shortly.

Up until now I’ve used Market West as a kind of alias for myself. I’ve gotten a good amount of work from it, but my real source of part-time web design clientele is simply people talking.

But in a short amount of time I’ll have lots of time on my hands, and I’ll need to get either some great freelance work or a temporary position at a web design firm or similar. It’ll be a challenge, but Bristol is quite the active community when it comes to web design and hopefully it won’t be too difficult.

One thing I really do need, however, is a great site which does the job properly. It will be the very first place people look at when they’re considering hiring me, and so it needs to be rock-solid as far as design and coding goes. Rock solid.

Rock solid is hard to just produce out of nowhere. This time, I’ll need to really think about what I’m doing, because the specifics are more important than ever.

It’s not that how I usually make websites is lacking, but the new Market West calls for something a little more.

So over the next few weeks and perhaps even months I’ll be taking you all through the design and development process of making the new Market West.

I’ll explain as many of my decisions as I can, and show you how I think when I’m makin’ online magic (sort of).

Well, hope this has made a measure of sense. Keep your eye out for the next step!

[...] So I’m remaking Market West. This time, it has to last. I don’t want to have to come back to it every three months and completely overhaul the design. I do, however, want to be able to make slight changes. It needs to look fresh, and welcoming. [...]
