Getting used to OS X

Max OS X ExposeWow, this Mac thing is really growing on me.

Despite some very questionable issues already (a few fatal crashes, and one need to reinstall Tiger), it’s going okay.

I’m still migrating all of my data across… where the iPod Mini has failed the iPod Shuffle seems to have excelled, oddly enough.

I actually just went on my PC to get some website files, and wow! What was I using? The screen is horribly blurry, it’s slow and clunky and pretty much on it’s last legs. Not that this is a PC-wide issue, it’s only my PC at the moment. I even went to the top-left corner of a window to minimise it!

Back on the iMac, I’m slightly upset by the keys which, although they don’t say so, are meant to be ‘home’ and ‘end’ and do their jobs. They aren’t preforming at all!

GarageBand IconI finally worked out how to use GarageBand this evening, and can foresee me returning to it and having a lot of fun (I did initially think it was a load of rubbish, but all those sounds just look fun to mess about with).

Finder is looking less chaotic and more useful - while the Icon view isn’t very organised at all, Column view is good. I love that you can just drag a folder into the side-panel and get to it super-quick; it’s something that Windows was close to doing ages ago but never engaged their brains on.

I played a bit of Marble Blast - it’s quite addictive. One extremely unfortunate thing I’ve found in these games is that they don’t even support widescreen. Widescreen must be amazing for games, especially like Doom! Playing in 4:3 mode doesn’t feel quite right.

Ahh well. Back to web design!

You’re just like a kid in a candy shop. Luckily you won’t get calories or tooth aches.

I’m still looking for a decent text editor for web development. TextMate has too few preferences and too many annoyances, as well as many others. Let me know if you find any useful ones that act somewhat like what I use on Windows — http://www.crimsoneditor.com/

It is possible to make it more organized in icon view if you want. Just go to the finder, and then go to view. Then go to arrange by, and it’ll give you some options. Anyway…its good to see you’re having fun with the Mac.

Pressing and have it try to rename the file still drives me insane.
